Lent, Holy Week, Easter

Lent is the preparation for the celebration of Easter,
the heart of the paschal mystery.
It is a time to meditate on the passion and suffering of Christ,
and to look forward to His resurrection.

services

What is the Triduum?

ALL ARE WELCOME
Our Lenten journey is nearing an end. We are at the beginning of the most solemn week in our
church calendar. Some people joined us six weeks ago on Ash Wednesday and per- haps there are
people here today who have not been with us each week. It is good for us to be together! How
much better our observance of Lent would have been if everyone who came for ashes and everyone
who is here for palms, was with us each week! And how much better our celebration of the Easter
season will be (not just one day but a whole season) and beyond, if we gather here to worship God
and give thanks for the blessings in our lives each week.

A Catholics Come Home link is now available on the Diocesan website. This link will serve as a useful tool for parishioners to educate themselves about the program as well as a tool for those who wish to come home to the Church. Link to

Ash Wednesday, February 25, and Good Friday, April 10, are
days of fast and abstinence. All Fridays of Lent are also days of
abstinence from meat. Fasting, almsgiving and prayer are the three traditional disci-
plines of Lent.

As Jesus’ disciples, we have a responsibility to care for our brothers and sisters in all nations. Our community- will participate in Catholic Relief Services’ Operation Rice Bowl this Lent as a sign of solidarity with our global family.
Operation Rice Bowl invites us to:
•	Pray together •	Fast in solidarity with those who hunger •	Learn about the joys and challenges in the lives of
our brothers and sisters around the world •	Give a sacrificial contributions to support those in
need Visit www.orb.crs.org for more informationwill be taken up every Friday during
Lent at the daily Mass.

THE HOLY FATHER'S COLLECTION FOR THE HOLY LAND: The daily news reminds us of the violence and instability plaguing the Middle East, but we
rarely hear of the shrinking Christian community there, a community that struggles to remain
in the land of Christ’s birth, death and resurrection.
On Good Friday, our parish will take up the annual Good Friday Collection for the Holy Land.
Your financial contribution helps to support the struggling Christian community and to protect
Christianity’s holiest places.
Please help support our brothers and sisters in the Holy Land by giving to the special Good Friday
Collection. This Pontifical Collection allows the Franciscans and others to continue caring for
Christianity’s holiest sites and for God’s people in the Holy Land.
