Lent

Lent is the preparation for the celebration of Easter,
the heart of the paschal mystery.
It is a time to meditate on the passion and suffering of Christ,
and to look forward to His resurrection.

N.B. Rice Bowl collections end Holy Thursday, April 1.

LENTEN PRACTICE

During this most holy time, participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
This sacrament, “imparts to the sinner the love of God who reconciles:
‘Be reconciled to God.’
He who lives by God’s merciful love is ready to respond to the Lord’s call:
‘Go first and be reconciled to your brother.”

Ash Wednesday, February 25, and Good Friday, April 10, are
days of fast and abstinence. All Fridays of Lent are also days of
abstinence from meat. Fasting, almsgiving and prayer are the three traditional disci-
plines of Lent.

As part of our faith community’s Lenten observance, we will
participate in Catholic Relief Services’ Lenten program, Operation Rice Bowl.
Use the Rice Bowl packets
located at the entrances of the church.
Rice Bowl Collections will be taken up every Friday during
Lent at the daily Mass.
